ok, so today is not so awesome. my mom left for flordia to care for my dying grandfather for a week, and I am stuck home alone to take care of my sister durring the day b/c my dad works away all day. fun, huh?
anyways, that is all that is going on right now... OH WAIT!! I want to bitch about the barn ( if anyone reads this, I own a horse names Arnie who has been lame in the same foot for a/b a year now... which sucks in so many ways)
ok, well before we left on vacation a week ago we asked our really cool farier, Hugh, if he would come out 3 times to wrap/unwrap arnies hoof b/c he had just blown out an abcess (a normal one, in november he blew one out from his coronary band that took up the whole front of his hoof) and so hugh did that, but he also bought his this cheep boot to cover the hoof and asked the insufferable ladies that run our barn if they could take it off in the morning, and they basically grunted in response (he also asked them for his fly mask for 3 days, guess how they responded? "uh, yeah", and he never got the fly mask even though it was right on Arnie's stall) Anyways, so the po-dunk ladies were to absorbed with their own fat horses they consider fit to take off my horses boot for two days (sat & sun), and when we arrived back on monday and went out to the barn the boot had twisted sideways and gave arnie a nasty rub that made him lame.
so now Arnie is now lame because of them. which sucks. he could have been on the way to recovery by now after a year and the two abcesses (the large mf-er one in November and the normal one that blew in the end on May), but now he has to heal from their idoicy.
and not only do they make our horse more lame, but they ue our stall ALL THE TIME. when we first came to that barn stall board was 250 a month, and since then she has boosted the rate to 300, but told us our rate was frozen at 250. However, Arnie seems to not be fed in his stall and on countless occasions we have found other borders horses in our stall.Pooing. Pissing. Making a mess. and who cleans it? my mom and I. If we dont have a stall anymore because of the rate, why dont they just tell us?
and their other pratices, like a major lack of saftey and organization, really just make this place a circius. quite literally. yesterday this kid (a/b 8 years old, a/b 4.5' tall,a beginner at most)dropped his reains on an apparently "bomb-proof" throughbred horse and she got her leg caught in the reins, and took off like a bullet. The kid stayed on gripping to the saddle for two laps and then fell of under her legs. The woman giving the lesson and his grandman said to just get back on. with out checking him properly. He could be bleeding internally, but who cares? The moment hte kid fell the woman giving lessons should have gotten off of her butt in her little judge box (equipped with what I call a "work camp" sound system) and calmly walked to her horse and fix the reains insted of having her minion junior sensless volunteers try to fix it.
don't even get me started on those volunteers.basically, they know squat about horse care, but they are expected to care for the horses. great. and they are given feeding lists with every other horse at the barn listed on them (even all of the other borders) but arnie is not listed. The women runnign the barn say they feed him. really? one horse? with easy supplements to give that are apparently complicated (2 big scoops of biotin, and 1 big and 1 small scoop of glucosamine)? yeah, that is a JOKE.
gah!!!!! well, that bitch rant felt good. really good. like, you have no freaking idea.
well, arnie and I say toodles!!!! :P
(not the same barn I board him at, this is HorseNet Horse Rescue, they are really great)
